The original name of our Root chakra is Muladhara, meaning root and support. This chakra is our first chakra and is the foundation of our being. When one is connected to the earth, one is considered grounded. This is where our growth will spurt when we establish our roots. Certain aspects of our life like stability, security, survival, grounding, and support rule this chakra. When we ground ourselves to the energy of the earth, we align all of our essential primal needs. By aligning this chakra, you give access to freedom towards all the other chakras above. The root surrounds our basic needs like water, food, shelter, safety, and letting go of fear.

If the Root chakra is out of balance, feelings of anxiety, insecurity and paranoia appear. These feelings simply will stem from constant fear flowing throughout our bodies, causing everything to feel like it is a threat towards our being. We may start to feel like we are not doing enough for ourselves or those around us.

To bring balance back into our Root, we must do things to make us feel safe and secured. Holistic ways to balance your Root chakra include incorporating essential oils into our daily routine including our Root Chakra Aromatherapy blend, which consists of natural Grapefruit, Pine and Vetiver Essential oils. Using crystals in our meditative state or wearing them on our physical body will also help balance your chakras. Obsidian, Smoky Quartz, Red Jasper, and Hematite are very powerful tools for our Root chakra as well.
